HISTORY OF APPLETON, WISCONSIN

Description

Appleton is a city in the Wisconsin state of the United States of America. It is located on River Fox which is about 48km to the southwest of the GreenBay city of Wisconsin. It is also 160km to the North of Milwaukee city. Milwaukee is the largest city of Wisconsin.

Surface Area

Appleton sits on a total surface area of 64kilometer squared. The total land mass is 63kilometer squared while the water constitutes about the 1 square kilometer. It is found at an altitude of 240meters above sea level. Appleton, Wisconsin experiences both summers and winters. It doesn’t have much snow during its winter as other areas that have winters. This is attributed to the distance above sea level.

History

Appleton city in Wisconsin is one of the best places to live in. It was named after Samuel Appleton. Samuel Appleton contributed immensely towards the incorporation of this city. He was thus rewarded by naming this city after him. He contributed a whopping $10,000 towards the construction of Lawrence institution library. Appleton city grew at the same time with Lawrence institution.
Appleton was incorporated as a village first then it was awarded the status of a city a few years later. Appleton came into existence as a result of business transactions between the Native Americans and Indians. The Fur traders seeking to do business with the natives at the Fox River are the ones who led to the growth of this city. This business led to them seeking residence at Appleton, Wisconsin.
Education has been a major part of this community. They have valued both types of education vocational education included. They also have a technical and adult education. The primary education for the young is not negotiable because it is a requirement by law. This implies that this place has people that are well educated and learned. Their main economic activity involves business. This started with the fur business.

Because of the Lawrence institution that was later given a charter as Lawrence University and other education institutions, there was a need for a public library. To boost the economy of the area, a paper industry was constructed to meet this need and for export too. Because Appleton City, Wisconsin sits on the Fox River, electricity generation also came into existence. An area business has been boosted by the construction of a hydroelectric power station. This ensures cheap electricity for prosperity.

As an educated community, the first invention of the electric street the car was invented. This is operated within the area, and this saves on time management. This electricity has been used in many ways too. For example, there is the 24hour operational economy for businesses and other outdoor activities as a result of street lights.
